The lights dim and Carl Orff’s “O Fortuna” begins to play, echoing off the walls as five men take to the stage. A single spotlight comes on, and droning guitars weave into the quilted web of noise as each player takes his instrument. Is it the Super Bowl? Not quite. It’s only The Guess Who at the Seneca Allegany Casino on Saturday night, but for the casino, it may have been an equally momentous performance.

The votes are counted and the winner has been determined!

"[Wates] made us all sit up pop-eyed at what he could do with six strings."

BETHEL STEELE returns to the Music Room at Black-Eyed Susan Acoustic Café on FRIDAY, May 13th for an evening of straight-up folk music with a dash of country and alternative in the mix.

Three bands in a great venue or a Friday night.

What do you get when you take five of the hottest musical acts from the area and put them in a large room with a bar and PA system? Well, a rock show, of course. Odeum Entertainment’s first Southern Tier Unsigned Musician’s Showcase brought a variety of performances to the Olean American Legion on Saturday and Sunday, ranging from the soothing acoustic strumming of Luke and Angee to the sweltering riffs and rapid-fire rim shots of Led by the Blind.

Get transported back to a bygone era with these two stars!

Ok everyone...here is what you can expect from the first Southern Tier Unsigned Musicians Showcase, Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 at the Olean American Legion!

An event to find new talent, give them a chance to get some exposure, and help the Wounded Warrior Project all at once!

The Event Center at the Seneca Allegany Casino was once again a packed house Saturday night as Blues guitar virtuoso Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the room.

From the opening note to the final chord, Shepherd let everyone know that he is one of the masters. His ability to take on the solo, and play seamlessly throughout, made it arguably the best Blues performance going on in the region this past weekend.

Scrunching her face into scowls and scratching her head, mezzo-soprano Lorraine Yaros-Sullivan took on a new character with veritably every turn of the page in an intimate performance at Bromeley Family Theatre. From a confused, love –starved girl to a horrid stepmother, Sullivan told her tales to the tunes of Georges Bizet, Gioachino Rossini, Benjamin Britten, Richard Strauss, and the shimmering sounds of her accompanist, Kirk Severtson, on piano.

Another great show for the Seneca Allegany Hotel and Casino

Guitarist, pianist and singer CONNIE HAMILTON of Nunda grew up with classical music (her mother was a church organist, a proficient accompanist and music teacher). Then s-t-e-r-e-o hit her house and Judy Collins, Peter, Paul and Mary, Joan Baez, Roberta Flack, Cher and Julie Andrews became her idols. She taught herself how to play guitar so she could sing their wonderful songs. She’s performed at many weddings, concerts and church functions, and piano for the Ossian Presbyterian Church where she just started a children’s choir.

If you enjoy live, acoustic music then put the monthly ACOUSTIC OPEN MIC night at Black-Eyed Susan Acoustic Café on your calendar. Players of all ages (we’ve had performers as young as 9 yrs) and levels of experience (one or two have called Open Mic at Black-Eyed Susan their first public performance) gather at the café to make music, share a laugh and a good meal every “First Thursday”. This month, the evening takes place on March 3rd.

"We are a bunch of guys that love what we do. We love live music by musicians that love to play it.” Rich Williams of the legendary band, KANSAS.

A scruffy, unshaven, beanie-clad Bradley Skistimas took the stage on Thursday in standard emo attire: a blue dress shirt, silver tie, and skinny black jeans. His persona clashed with the tightly polished image that hung on the large publicity banner behind him that portrayed Skistimas as a clean-cut, All-American artist. At first, it seemed that maybe it was just his attire that was out of place, but as the night continued, it became apparent that Skistimas’ enthusiasm was also on leave this evening.

A small stage in the corner of Allegany’s Linger Longer Café just wasn’t enough to hold the vocal intensity of St. Bonaventure acoustic pop-rock band Living My Last Day.

Friday, Feb. 4 Sean O’Shea and Katie Desautels performed a strong set to a relatively full Linger Longer.

On Jan. 28, Wellsville’s Cort Dunham, 55, his son Dan Dunham and close friend Justin Cornelius set up in what locals call the Fillmore Hotel for a night full of good, old-fashioned rock music.

Before you know it Dan, 23, hits the kick and the band busts out into a sound that fills the entire room. The lyrics to Bob Seger’s timeless classic “Sunspot Baby” ring out over the warm distortion of Cort’s guitar shuffles to the crowd.
