Pulitzer nominee to speak at Pitt-Bradford

Scott Russell Sanders will speak  Oct. 19.

 

BRADFORD, Pa. – Award-winning author Scott Russell Sanders will speak on the relationship between people and places Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

His free talk will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Mukaiyama University Room of the Frame-Westerberg Commons. The program is sponsored by the English program, the Environmental Studies program, the Division of Communication and the Arts, and the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences.

As hard as their name, Olean's AppleJack brings new music to the local music scene

The term AppleJack refers to a strong alcoholic beverage made from, of course, apples in the colonial period of American History. It was used as currency to pay road construction crews.

The process of freeze distilling hard cider makes AppleJack 30 to 40 percent alcohol; hard by some standards.
