Black-Eyed Susan Holiday Acoustic Open Mic benefit

At the request of hosts Bob & Gena Decker, Black-Eyed Susan Acoustic Café in Angelica will host a special Holiday Acoustic Open Mic on Friday, December 17th to raise funds in support of a local charitable organization.

“Community Action Angels” is an innovative volunteer coordination program at ACCORD Corporation, administered almost entirely by volunteers devoted to providing hope to people experiencing difficult circumstances.

Community Action Angels serves as a link between volunteers and the community.  Programs currently coordinated by this group include: holiday assistance for children; food distributions and holiday food boxes; clothing and furniture collection and distribution; nursing home projects and services for the elderly; coat drive for children; and disaster relief.  

The volunteers hold to a philosophy they call "The Circle of Giving."  According to Community Action Angels literature, “anyone who truly needs our assistance will be helped to the best of our ability.  Anyone who has received our assistance will be encouraged to help others to the best of their ability.”  Learn more about this program at www.accord.org.

The doors at Black-Eyed Susan Acoustic Café will open at 6:00 p.m. with a full dinner menu including Chicken & Dumplings, Pork with Tomatoes and Olives, a Blue Moon Burger Platter and Haddock with a Walnut Salsa Verde. Acoustic Open Mic will begin at 7:00 p.m. as BOB & GENA get the evening started with a few songs. They’ll introduce other performers in the order in which they signed in. These players will be invited to perform up to three songs of their own.

Gena remarks, “Bob and I are really excited about this special evening, and have been working on quite a few new Christmas and winter songs.”

Don Ash of Black-Eyed Susan says, “In keeping with our month-long December agenda of seasonal music, this Open Mic will showcase many of the old favorite carols and a few special, different songs too.  Musicians of all ages and experience levels are invited to play, and everyone else is invited to listen and even sing along -- all the while raising funds for this worthy organization.” 

There is no fee to participate and no cover charge, but tips and donations will be contributed to the charity, so please be generous. The café will close at 10:00 p.m.
