Strikeforce Women’s 135lb champion, Marloes Coenen defeated Liz Carmouche by triangle choke in round four. Camouche (who took the fight on two week’s notice) dominated Coenen after the first round with an impressive flurry of punches, but Coenen held on long enough to use her grappling skills to keep her belt.
The main event held one of the best upsets all evening. Dan Henderson, a world class wrestler in his forty’s won the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight belt by defeating Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante. In round three Henderson delivered a famous right hand that rocked Cavalcante, then Henderson jumped on his chance for the win until the referee stepped in.
In the preliminary fights impressive wins came by Jason Freeman, Brian Rogers, Mitch Whitesel, Jorge Gurgel, and Roger Bowling in the first rounds of their fights. John Kuhner also earned a win in round two of his fight.
Strikeforce is currently the largest competition for the UFC, and put on a show in Columbus that men and women of all ages could enjoy.
