TONIGHT! UFC Fight for the Troops 2 live on Spike TV!
Live on Spike TV this Saturday at 9 p.m. the Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold their second Fight for the Troops event at Ford Hood Military Base in Texas.
The event will help raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, an organization that focuses on helping U.S. soldiers and veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury caused from their service in the Middle East. The UFC’s first event in 2008 rose over $2 million for the cause.
Earlier this week UFC President, Dana White announced the UFC would be airing the lightweight bout between Yves Edwards (39-16-1) vs. Cody McKenzie (12-0) and welterweight bout between Mike “The Joker” Guyman (12-4-1) vs. The Ultimate Fighter contestant and military veteran DeMarques Johnson (14-8) fights live on the UFC’s official Facebook page.
The night’s main event between lightweights Evan Dunham (10-1) and Melvin “Young Assasin” Guillard (25-8-2) is sure to be an exciting fight between two great martial artists. Guillard was originally scheduled to fight Kenny Florian, but Florian suffered an injury and had to withdraw. Dunham is known for great Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills and Guillard for his great striking skills, tune in on Saturday to see which fighters style will lead them to success.
Also on the main card are two heavyweight bouts that are sure to give fans an exciting show. The Ultimate Fighter’s Matt Mitrione (3-0) will face Tim “The Thrashing Machine” Hague (10-4). Both of these fighters have good stand-up and ground skills, fans will now get to see which fighter has more heart to win. Kickboxer Pat Barry (4-3) is scheduled to fight boxer/wrestler Joey Beltran (10-3) as well.
The featherweight bout on the main card will feature Mark Hominick (18-7) fighting against George Roop (11-5-1). White recently stated if Hominick defeats Roop this weekend he would become the top contender for the UFC Featherweight Championship which is currently held by Jose Aldo.
The fight between Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt Cole Miller (17-4) and wrestler Matt Wiman (12-5) originally scheduled for the upcoming UFC 125 was moved to Saturday night’s main card. Wiman has only ever been finished once in his career, by Spencer Fischer at UFC 60. Both fighters have faced some tough opponents and it will be interesting to see who takes the win in this bout.
